ARMM PORTS NOW ACTIVE LINKS

Davao City/December 14, 2013.  Prof. Hanie A. Bud, General Manager, Regional Ports Management Authority (RPMA) revealed in a press statement that Baseports Bongao, Jolo and outlying outports of Lamitan, Siasi, Sitangkai, Mapun and Sibuto are now active links in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) ports system in the country’s southern archipelago.

“Our current growth in seaborne trading is a strong incentive that drives us to improve our services and management capability as well as meet efficiency standards clamoured by our business players in the waterfronts,” he stated.

Bud explained that the reform agenda of Hon. Mujiv S. Hataman, Regional Governor keeps RPMA moving on to catch up with the call for competitiveness in the maritime transport arena which their gateways serve adding that the forthcoming inception of the Bangsamoro Entity is welcomed to Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

In his opening speech at the Year-End Assessment and Evaluation of the Accomplishments of the Port Management Offices (PMOs), Terminal Management Offices (TMOs), Cargo Handling Operators (CHOs) and the Regional Office held December 12 to14 at Eden Nature Park and Resort, Toril, Davao City, Bud challenged his staff and cargo handlers to work more and to keep on transforming ARMM port facilities from their being heavily subsidized operations years back to self-sustaining, earning and performing assets, as they are now.

 

Salient features of the forum included the launching of the exclusive caucus of Regional Officials and Staff, RPMA Official Website, Administrative and Financial highlights, reports on statistics, revenue collection, port development program, presentation of Islamic Leadership, management information system and pilotage services. The program was culminated by a workshop, presentation of output and followed by the approval of a resolution by the participants adopting the agreed plans and programs for CY 2014 which also include lectures on teambuilding and effective management towards sustainable ports

development programs in the region. 

The RPMA was created under Executive Order No. 2, Series of 2002 signed by then the fourth ARMM Regional Governor Parouk S. Hussin. ###
