The
Regional Ports Management Authority of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao
(RPMA-ARMM) undertakes the fundamental role of administering an integrated
program for the development, operation and maintenance of the region’s ports in
support to trade and regional development.
It takes this role with commitment and focus by delivering responsive
and client-friendly frontline port services through the system of ports it
manages and operates.
The
agency continues to exert effort in the development and safe port facilities
that are at par with acceptable national benchmarks and attuned with clients’
expectations and requirements. Providing
efficient services to our port stakeholders and the general public, RPMA plays
a critical role in moving commerce and trade and spurring tourism in support of
the ARMM’s economic development.
While
our plans and programs for 2012-2013 were somewhat gigantic and ambitious, we
believe that RPMA will cope well with other port authorities in Mindanao. We
consider our planning and investment program as significant infrastructure
agenda designed to meet our vision of having in place ARMM ports meeting national
standards. In a sense, the RPMA is investing for the future to transform ARMM
ports in ways that will significantly benefit its constituents.
In
the pursuit of our mission of sustaining the development of our port, we made
it a policy that every port plan we undertake complies with the requirement of
national port rules and regulations to attune with PPA related port policies.
We
hope to show a RPMA that continuously evolves, reinvents itself and is able to
withstand a dynamic environment and changing clientele references. We will do this at the same time that we are
developing the competencies of our management team and our personnel by giving
them access to relevant training and providing them with tools of current
technology within the limits of our resources. We believe this strategy creates
value in the form of highly motivated and professionally equipped workforce
that can be counted upon to deliver results for the organization.
In
all, we will pursue, relatively unscathed, more resilient and more responsive
port plans and programs. Moving forward, we are confident of the commitment and
guidance of our OIC-Regional Governor, Honorable Mujiv S. Hataman, and the
convening of the Board of Directors which will steer RPMA along a stable course
for efficient and effective port management and operation.
To
this end, we are proud to inform the Governing Board that from a mere three
thousand pesos (Php 3,000.00) left in
the RPMA Account when we assumed office
last July 6, 2012, a total of One million six hundred fifty two thousand and
one hundred sixty five (Php 1,652.165.) pesos were collected from the different
ports for the months of July and August 2012 and remitted to the Regional
Treasury the total amount of Nine hundred seventy two thousand and five hundred
seventy six (Php 972, 576.00) pesos. A significant increase of revenue
collections and improved remittance to ORT. A thirty percent increase of revenue is
expected for the next three months.
Continuing
evaluation of port performance and dialogue with port officials and
stakeholders are in place to uphold the Policy on Good Governance, Transparency
and Accountability in Public Office
Thank
you very much.

General Manager, RPMA
